Add or edit a survey in the app

You can add or edit a survey via the Survey Manager in the Igloo Flex Mobile app to gather feedback, opinions, or information from users within your organization.

Considerations

  • Active surveys: Once a survey is active, the survey's details can no longer be edited. However, the duration of the survey may be extended.
  • Survey templates: You can only access survey templates that you have created or that have been shared with you.

Add a survey in the app

A survey can be added from a blank survey or a survey template.

To add a survey from a blank survey: 

  1. In the app's Top Bar, tap Profile Menu, and then Survey Manager.
  2. Tap Create, and then Create New Survey.

Or, to add a survey from a survey template: 

  1. In the app's Top Bar, tap Profile Menu, and then Survey Manager.
  2. Tap Templates.
  3. Search for a survey template or find it in the list.
  4. Next to the survey template, tap Menu and then Use Template

Once the survey editor has been opened, follow these steps: 

  1. Configure the survey: In the Designer tab, configure the following:
    • Survey title: Enter a recognizable name for your survey.
    • Description: (Optional) Enter a description for the survey.
    • Image: (Optional): Tap to upload an image to be used in the survey's header.
    • Questions: To add survey questions or panels, tap Add Question. See the Question and panel types and Question tools sections below for details.
    • Survey Settings: (Optional) Tap Open Survey Settings to open the new panel, which allows you to adjust the survey's overall configuration. See the Survey tools section below for details.
  2. (Optional) Preview the survey:  Before completing the survey, tap Preview to walk through the survey experience.
  3. Schedule the survey: If you are creating a draft of the survey to be worked on later, this step is not required. Otherwise, to schedule the survey's availability in the digital workplace:
    1. Tap Set Duration.
    2. Select a Start Date and time and an End Date and time for the survey to be available. The survey duration cannot be longer than 20 days.
    3. Tap Save.
  4. Tap Save. If the survey has been scheduled for the future, it may take up to 5 minutes to become active.
  5. (Optional) Share your survey: There are multiple ways to share surveys in the digital workplace. See Share a survey in the app.

Edit a survey in the app

Only surveys in draft or scheduled states can be edited. An active survey may only have its time duration extended. To edit a survey: 

  1. In the app's Top Bar, tap Profile Menu, and then Survey Manager.
  2. (Optional) For surveys created by other users, tap Shared with Me.
  3. Search for a survey or find it in the list.
  4. Next to the survey, tap Menu and then Edit Survey.
  5. (Optional) Configure the survey: In the Designer tab, configure the following:
    • Survey title: Enter a recognizable name for your survey.
    • Description: (Optional) Enter a description for the survey.
    • Image: (Optional): Tap to upload an image to be used in the survey's header.
    • Questions: To add survey questions or panels, tap Add Question. See the Question and panel types and Question tools sections below for details.
    • Survey Settings: (Optional) Tap Open Survey Settings to open the new panel, which allows you to adjust the survey's overall configuration. See the Survey tools section below for details.
  6. (Optional) Preview the survey:  Before completing the survey, tap Preview to walk through the survey experience.
  7. Schedule the survey: If you are continuing work on a survey draft at a later time, this step is not required. A survey must be scheduled to be available in the digital workplace. To schedule or reschedule the survey's availability:
    1. Tap Set Duration or Update Duration.
    2. Select a Start Date and time and an End Date and time as necessary for the survey to be available. The survey duration cannot be longer than 20 days.
    3. Tap Save.
  8. (Optional) If you have made changes to an unpublished survey, tap Save. If the survey has been scheduled for the future, it may take up to 5 minutes to become active.
  9. (Optional) Share your survey: There are multiple ways to share surveys in the digital workplace. See Share a survey in the app.

Question and panel types

The following question types and panels are available in the survey editor's Designer tab. 

Question Type Description
Radio Button Group Responders can use radio buttons to select a single answer from multiple options.
Rating Scale Responders can select one number within a range to enter a rating. 
Checkboxes Responders can select one or several checkboxes for a single or multiple options. 
Dropdown Responders can select a single answer from a drop-down list.
Multi-Select Dropdown Responders can select one or multiple answers from a dropdown list. 
Yes/No (Boolean) Responders can select a "Yes" or "No" answer.
Ranking Responders can drag and drop items from a list to rearrange them according to rank or preference.
Single-Line Input Responders can enter or select a preformatted answer into a single-line input box.
Long Text Responders can enter a lengthy text answer into a resizable multi-line text area.
Multiple Textboxes Responders enter their answers into multiple single-line text boxes.
Single-Select Matrix Responders can select only one radio button from each row of a multi-row and column display of radio buttons.

Responders can select a desired value for each cell of a matrix with multiple rows and columns that can display: 

  • Dropdown
  • Checkboxes
  • Radio Button Group
  • Single-Line Input
  • Long Text
  • Yes/No (Boolean)

Dynamic Matrix

Like Multi-Select Matrix, responders can select a desired value for each matrix cell with multiple rows and columns. In addition, responders can add and remove rows from the matrix. Each cell can be displayed as:

  • Dropdown
  • Checkboxes
  • Radio Button Group
  • Single-Line Input
  • Long Text
  • Yes/No (Boolean)
  • Expression
  • Rating Scale
Expression (read-only) Used to calculate values entered by responders and present them to responders. The calculated values are saved in the survey results. 
Signature Responders may use a mouse or touch gestures to draw their signature within the box.

Panel Type Description
Panel A panel is a container that can group several questions or panels in one area and control them all simultaneously. 
Dynamic Panel A dynamic panel is a template panel that can contain multiple questions. Responders can add or remove panels based on the template.

Question tools

The following tools are available in the central area of the Designer tab when editing questions directly.

Question Enter a question for responders to answer. 
Item names Next to each button, enter an item name to be displayed for the item.
Remove / Add Tap Remove to remove an item and Add to add an item. 
Handlebars Tap the handlebars to drag and drop an item to rearrange the order. 
Duplicate Tap to duplicate the question. 
Required Tap to require the question to be answered by responders. 
Delete

When next to an item in the question, tap to remove that item from the question. 

When at the bottom of a question box, tap to remove the question from the survey.

Availability is dependent on screen size.

Tap to open the question's settings. 

Labels

Rating Scale questions only

Tap to select the display style of the rating scale. Options include:

Tap to preformat the content to be included in the input box. Options include:

The following tools are available by tapping Open Survey Settings.

Tap to select an option from the dropdown to manage answer previews. Options include:

Element order on the page

Tap to select an option to manage how questions are displayed on the page. Options include: 

  • Initial
  • Random

Add New

Tap to add a new page to the survey.

Drag the handlebars next to a page to move a page's position.
