Bulk User Upload

The Bulk User Upload process allows workplace administrators to download a template based on the digital workplace's profile fields and use that template to add or update users, their profile fields, and groups in the digital workplace.

Use Bulk User Upload

As a workplace administrator, you can download a CSV template, which can be updated in a spreadsheet editor such as Excel, to update and upload to the digital workplace to bulk add and update users in the digital workplace. The CSV file will be validated to ensure successful uploads on the following components: 

  • File validation: The file type must be .csv to be a valid upload document.  
  • Data validation: Each user and their profile fields will be evaluated for format. Users will be marked as valid or invalid. Invalid user uploads can be corrected inline on the Invalid Users tab before uploading, or the Invalid Users list can be downloaded to be fixed and reuploaded later. 
  • One valid user: The Bulk User Upload process can only be completed with at least one valid user. 

When updating existing users, you can use Bulk User Export to download a CSV file prefilled with current users, their profile data, and group membership. For instructions on Bulk User Upload, see Add or update users with Bulk User Upload and Create a CSV file for Bulk User Upload.

Once the Bulk User Delete job has been processed, you can view the results on the Users page's Recent History tab, to view the status of the job (Completed, Failed, and In Progress), and the job's number of successfully uploaded users and users that failed to upload to the digital workplace. Uploading users does not activate the users' accounts. The digital workplace authentication method determines if a user will be contacted to activate their account:  

  • Igloo authentication: Users will receive an email or SMS text message to start the account activation process. If you have chosen not to send invitations automatically, you can send an invitation manually for an individual user or any unactivated users at a later time. See Send a user activation invitation.
  • SAML SSO: Users will not receive an email to start the account activation process because they are automatically activated when uploaded.
