A profile field provides vital information about your identity in the digital workplace and can be found in your profile. By completing profile fields, you can give other digital workplace users a way to put a face to your name and help improve collaboration by providing contact methods.

Update profile fields
Profile fields can be updated via multiple methods:
- You can update your profile fields directly on your Profile page.
- As a workplace administrator, you can update a user's profile fields directly on their Profile page or by using Bulk User Upload to update their profile fields.
- As a workplace administrator, you can configure SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) to connect to Igloo Flex and sync your organization's profile data directly from your Identity Provider.
See the Core and system profile fields section below for more information about profile fields and formatting.
Configure profile fields
As a workplace administrator in the Profile Field Configuration page, you can configure the settings of core profile fields and add, edit, or remove profile fields. See Add or edit profile fields or Delete profile fields. When configuring profile fields, keep in mind that:
-
Field types: You may have up to 20 of each field type, which include:
- Text
- Number
- Date
- Phone
- URL
- Dropdown
- Checkbox
- Address
- Hiding profile fields from users: When hiding profile fields from users, it will prevent the user from seeing or interacting with the profile field in the Profile page, User Directory, and in search.
- Removing profile fields: When a profile field is removed, it is permanently deleted along with all user data stored in it. The field and data cannot be restored.
In addition to profile fields, profile field categories house profile fields on the Profile page. As a workplace administrator, you can add, rename, and rearrange profile field categories. See Configure the Profile page.
Core and system profile fields
While you can add and remove custom profile fields, core and system profile fields are automatically created in your digital workplace. They cannot be removed.
- System field: A system field is required for Igloo Flex's functionality. They are critical for identifying and managing users. You cannot delete system fields, and they must always be present.
- Core field: A core field is similar to a system field but is not considered essential for Igloo Flex's basic operation. Core fields help enhance the user experience, for example, by making profile information richer and improving search and discoverability. You cannot delete core fields, but you can hide or make them optional.
These fields may be renamed in the Profile Field Configuration page. You can always review a field to see the original name, and in the Bulk User Upload CSV file, the field's original name will always be in parentheses. For example: Biography(About).
