Add or edit profile fields

You can add or edit profile fields to change how they are displayed on the Profile page and how users can interact with the fields when viewing their profiles

Considerations

  • Field types: You may have up to 20 of each field type. 
  • Intro profile field category: You cannot add, rearrange, or remove profile fields from the Intro profile field category. 

Who can do this?

  • Workplace administrators

Add profile fields

  1. On the Top Bar, select Admin Settings.
  2. Under Administrator in the left side panel, select Profile Field Configuration
  3. Select Create New and then Custom Field.
  4. Enter your custom field's configuration options. See the Configuration options section below for more information.  
  5. Select Add

Edit a profile field

  1. On the Top Bar, select Admin Settings.
  2. Under Administrator in the left side panel, select Profile Field Configuration
  3. Beside the field in the table, select Menu and then Edit & Overview.
  4. In the window, update the field's configuration options. See the Configuration options section below for more information.  
  5. Select Save.

Configuration options

Setting Description
Display name

Enter a field name to display in the profile.

Maximum character limit of 50 characters. 

Category Choose a category to display the custom field in. The Intro category cannot be selected and fields in this category cannot be moved to another category.
Category Position Choose whether the field should be displayed before or after the designated Field
Field Choose an existing field to display your field before or after.
Field type Choose a field type. See the Profile field types section below. 
Required Toggle to require the field to be filled out. 
Visible to user Toggle to show the field to users. When the profile field is hidden from users, they cannot view or interact with the field in the Profile page, User Directory, or in search
Editable by user Toggle to allow users to edit the field. 
Configuration options

Profile field types

Setting Description
Text

Users can enter text characters into the field. 

Maximum character limit of 200 characters. 

Number

Users can enter a whole number or use the arrows to increase or decrease the number. 

Maximum value limit of 2,147,483,647.

Date Users can use the date picker to select a date.
Email

Users can enter an email using standard email formatting. The field will be validated for errors. 

Example: example@domain.com

Phone

Users can enter an email using standard email formatting. The field will be validated for errors.

Example:

  • Phone field - 444155551234
  • Extension field - 555970
URL

Users can enter a URL using standard URL formatting (e.g., https://example.com). The field will be validated for errors.

Example: https://iglooflex.zendesk.com/

Dropdown

Users can choose from a dropdown of options that you provide. 

Once you have selected the Dropdown option, you can:

  1. Enter text into the first option textbox. 
  2. (Optional) Select Add option + to add additional options.
  3. (Optional) Drag and drop the handlebars to reorder the options. 
  4. (Optional) Select X to remove an option. 
Checkbox

Users can choose from options with checkboxes that you provide. 

Once you have selected the Checkbox option, you can:

  1. Enter text into the first option textbox. 
  2. (Optional) Select Add option + to add additional options.
  3. (Optional) Drag and drop the handlebars to reorder the options. 
  4. (Optional) Select X to remove an option. 
Address

Users can enter an address using standard address formatting. Fields will include: 

  • Address Line 1 (will appear as the field's title)
  • Address Line 2
  • City
  • State/Province
  • Zip/Postal Code
  • Country

Example:

  • Address Line 1 - 151 Charles St W
  • Address Line 2 - Suite 100
  • City - Kitchener
  • State/Province - Kitchener
  • Zip/Postal Code - N2G 1H6
  • Country - Canada
