Use the widget

When viewing a files and folders widget, the files and folders visible to you may be different from other users based on your file manager roles and associated access permissions to those files and folders. If you cannot view any of the selected files or folders, the widget will display the text "No Rows." In Grid view, files that support File Preview will display a thumbnail preview. Otherwise, they will display a placeholder image.

To navigate in the widget, you can

  • Select a folder: Select a folder to open the folder to view its contents.
  • Expand folder: In Tree view, select Expand or Collapse to view the contents of a folder.
  • Select a file: Select a file to open it to view.
  • Select a breadcrumb location: Use the breadcrumbs menu next to Home to navigate elsewhere in the file structure.
  • Select Menu: Select Menu next to a file or folder and then select:
    • Open in location: Open the file or folder in its location in the File Manager.
    • Copy Link: Copy a direct link to the file or folder to the device's clipboard
    • Download: Download the file to your device.

Configure the widget

When placing a files and folders widget on a page, workplace administrators and site administrators can configure the widget's:

  • Title
  • Source files and folders
  • Widget layout options
  • Display size
  • Sorting options
  • Widget displayed components

For instructions on configuring the widget, see Configure a files and folders widget.

When configuring a files and folders widget, keep in mind that:

  • Visible files and folders for selection: Only files and folders you have access permissions to view will be available for selection. A warning will be displayed if there are files and folders pre-selected in the widget by another user that cannot be seen.
  • Selecting a folder: Selecting a folder syncs all its contents into the widget, including new items added to the folder after the widget is configured.
  • Selecting a file: Selecting specific files syncs only the selected files.
