A folder is a digital container that allows users to organize stored digital files in the Igloo Flex File Manager. These files can be of any document type and can be further organized by creating additional nested folders.

Use a folder
On the File Management page, you can select a folder to view its contents. Additionally, you can select Menu next to each folder for the following options:
Details: View details about the folder. See the Folder details table below.
- Access: Define the access roles for the folder. Users or groups may be added with a defined role, or inheritance may be allowed to copy the containing folder's access rules. This option is available to users with a full file manager role or above.
- Copy Link: Copy a direct URL link to the folder to the clipboard. Paste this link elsewhere to share it. Users must have a viewer file manager role or above and be signed into the digital workplace to access the folder.
- Move: Move the folder within the File Manager. This option is available to users with an editor file manager role or above.
- Delete: Delete the folder from the File Manager. This option is available to users with a full file manager role or above.

| Copy Direct Link | Select to copy a permanent URL for the folder for sharing with other users. To access the folder, users must have folder access with a viewer file manager role or above and be signed into the digital workplace. |

| Who has access |
Displays 6 users or groups with access to the folder. Additionally, it displays the owner of a folder and the number of groups the folder is shared with. Select Manage access to manage who can access this folder or transfer ownership of this file. This option is available to users with a full file manager role or above. |
| Creator | Displays the user who created the folder in the digital workplace. |
| Date created | Displays the date and time the folder was created in the EDT timezone. |
| Date modified | Displays the date and time the folder was last modified in the EDT timezone. If the folder has yet to be modified, it will display the date it was created. |
| Modified by | Displays the last user to modify the folder. If the file has yet to be modified, it will display the user that created the folder. |
Add a folder
When you are creating folders in the File Manager, keep in mind that:
- Folder name: A folder's name may only contain letters, numbers, spaces, underscores, or hyphens. It may contain a max of 50 characters.
- Access permissions: A folder may have defined users and groups with specific file manager roles and associated access permissions or inherit the roles and access permissions from the folder that contains it.

Delete a folder
When you delete folders from the digital workplace, they are permanently deleted and cannot be restored. For more information, see Delete a file or folder.
Display folders in the digital workplace
As a workplace administrator or site administrator, you can use the files and folders widget to select files and folders to display directly on a page. The widget respects users' access permissions to view selected files and folders.
