A social post is a brief and timely communication hosted in a feed in the digital workplace. Social posts may contain a small amount of text, links, images, and videos. Users can react and comment on social posts when viewing a social feed, a social post, or a social feed widget on a page. Additionally, they can follow the feed to receive updates to the social feed.

Use social posts
Social posts can be found in social post feeds, in your Personal Dashboard page, or on a page via widgets, such as the social feed widget. When viewing a social post as a reader, you can:
-
Open post: Select
Menu inside the social post box, followed by Open post.
-

-
Comment: Select
Comment to start a conversation with other users.
Use social post feeds
Social post feeds contain grouped social posts with a common purpose. Social posts are displayed in the feed from newest to oldest by publication date.
You can select + Follow in a social feed to follow the social feed and receive notifications when content is added. The frequency of these notifications can be configured in your Notifications Settings. Workplace administrators can configure workplace default subscriptions to have you follow mandatory feeds in the digital workplace automatically. These feeds cannot be unfollowed and are identified with the label "Workplace default subscription".
Create social posts
As a workplace administrator, site administrator, or creator, you can create or edit social posts. When creating social posts, keep in mind that:
- Rich text editor: You can use the rich text editor toolbar to format text, including links, images, GIFS, and videos. The toolbar's capabilities are limited compared to the full version of the rich text editor to encourage faster content creation for timely communication.
- Character limit: A social post is limited to 500 characters. When creating the social post, the number of remaining characters is displayed under the rich text editor. Once the character limit is reached, you cannot publish the social post until the content is edited to contain 500 characters or fewer.
For instructions on creating or editing social posts, see Create or edit a social post.
Remove social posts
As a workplace administrator, site administrator, or creator, you can remove a social post from the digital workplace and send it to the Trash Bin. A workplace administrator can restore mistakenly deleted social posts to the digital workplace. For instructions on removing a social post, see Delete a social post.
Configure social feeds
As a workplace administrator or site administrator, you can manage social post feeds in the Site Manager. See Add or edit a feed or Delete a feed. As a workplace administrator, you can move sites, pages, and feeds in the Site Manager. When configuring social post feeds, keep in mind that:
- Access permissions: Feeds inherit the access permissions of the site where they reside. Users will only see content from that feed if they belong to a group with an assigned reader role or higher for the site.
- Workplace default subscriptions: As a workplace administrator, you can configure user groups to auto-follow a feed, but the users cannot unfollow it. See Add or edit workplace default subscriptions, or Remove workplace default subscriptions.
After adding a social feed, as a workplace administrator or site administrator, you can add a header image to the social post feed by selecting Edit in the header of the social feed. For instructions, see Add an image header to a social feed.
Configure the social feed widget
As a workplace or site administrator, you can add a social feed widget to a page. For instructions on configuring the widget, see Configure a social feed widget.
